The McClatchy Company owns 49.5 percent of the voting common stock and 70.6 percent of the nonvoting common stock of The Seattle Times Co., which publishes The Seattle Times newspaper and seven affiliated newspapers in Washington state and in Maine. The company also operates a network of websites and printing and distribution subsidiaries. Under a joint operating agreement, The Seattle Times Company manages the advertising, production, circulation and marketing for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, a daily newspaper owned by the Hearst Corp. with separate news and editorial departments.
