Patrick J. Talamantes
Patrick J. Talamantes - President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Talamantes became President and Chief Executive Officer of McClatchy in May 2012. From 2001 to 2012, Mr. Talamantes served as McClatchy’s Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In addition to being responsible for all of McClatchy’s financial operations, Mr. Talamantes was responsible for information technology and shared business services. From May 2011 to May 2012, he assumed additional oversight of McClatchy’s Florida operations, which include The Miami Herald, the Spanish-language El Nuevo Herald and the Bradenton Herald newspapers. Prior to joining McClatchy, Mr. Talamantes worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., a television broadcasting company, from 1996 to 2001, and served the last two years as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Talamantes was Treasurer of River City Broadcasting LP, a broadcasting company located in St. Louis, from 1995 to 1996, and spent nine years in media and entertainment finance with predecessor banks of J.P. Morgan Chase.
Heather L. Fagundes
Heather L. Fagundes - Vice President, Human Resources
Ms. Fagundes became Vice President, Human Resources of McClatchy in April 2004. In May 2012, she assumed additional oversight of McClatchy's corporate information technology. Ms. Fagundes served as Director of Human Resources for McClatchy corporate from December 1996 to March 2004. Ms. Fagundes joined McClatchy in 1992 as a Human Resources Generalist. She was the chairperson of the 2004 Sacramento Workplace Excellence Leaders Award Committee.
Anders Gyllenhaal
Anders Gyllenhaal - Vice President, News and Washington Editor
Mr. Gyllenhaal became Vice President, News and Washington Editor on November 1, 2010. Before his corporate appointment, Mr. Gyllenhaal was the senior vice president and executive editor of The Miami Herald from 2007 to 2010. He has led two other McClatchy newsrooms over his career: From 2002 to 2007 he was editor and senior vice president of the Minneapolis Star Tribune under McClatchy ownership and from 1997 to 2007 he was executive editor of The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. Mr. Gyllenhaal began his journalism career in 1975 as a reporter for the Daily News Record in Harrisonburg, Va. In 1977 he moved to The Press in Atlantic City, N.J., and joined The Miami Herald in 1979, where he worked as a local news reporter, statewide correspondent, investigative reporter and Broward County editor. In 1991 he moved to The News & Observer, working as a metro editor and managing editor before becoming executive editor. Mr. Gyllenhaal served as chairman of the Pulitzer Prize Board in 2009-10 and was a member of the Pulitzer Prize Board from 2001 to 2010.
Christian A. Hendricks
Christian A. Hendricks - Vice President, Interactive Media
Mr. Hendricks has been Vice President, Interactive Media since 1999. He joined McClatchy in 1992 as Advertising Manager, Marketing for The Fresno Bee, and the following year became its Marketing Director. In 1994 he was named Manager of Technology for McClatchy and held this position until 1996 when he was promoted to President and Publisher of Nando Media, McClatchy’s internet publishing company. He remained there until taking his current position in 1999. In 2004, Mr. Hendricks assumed the additional role of President of Nando Media, which was renamed McClatchy Interactive in 2005. He has served on various industry-related boards and committees and currently serves on the boards of the Newspaper Association of America, Classified Ventures and HomeFinder.
Elaine Lintecum
Elaine Lintecum - Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Lintecum has been Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of McClatchy since May 2012 and is responsible for all of McClatchy’s financial operations. Prior to her appointment as CFO, Ms. Lintecum spent 24 years in McClatchy’s corporate Finance Department holding a variety of key positions, including financial analyst, investor relations manager, assistant treasurer and treasurer. She was McClatchy’s financial reporting specialist for U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings and has played an instrumental role in every major financial development at McClatchy for more than two decades. Ms. Lintecum first joined McClatchy in 1988 after seven years in the audit department of Deloitte Haskins & Sells, a predecessor of Deloitte & Touche.
Karole Morgan-Prager
Karole Morgan-Prager - Vice President, Corporate Development, General Counsel and Secretary
Ms. Morgan-Prager has been General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of The McClatchy Company since 1995 and was named Vice President in 1998. In May 2012, she assumed additional oversight of McClatchy's corporate development activities. From 1992 to 1995, she was Associate General Counsel of The Times Mirror Co. She was an associate at the Morrison & Foerster law firm in Los Angeles from 1987 to 1992.
Robert J. Weil
Robert J. Weil - Vice President, Operations
Mr. Weil has been Vice President, Operations since September 1997 and oversees 14 daily newspapers and their affiliated operations in seven states. These are the Anchorage Daily News in Alaska; The Sacramento Bee, The Fresno Bee, The Modesto Bee, the Merced Sun-Star and The (San Luis Obispo) Tribune in California; the Idaho Statesman; the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky; the Centre Daily Times in Pennsylvania; the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in Texas; and The Olympian, The Bellingham Herald, The (Tacoma) News Tribune and the Tri-City Herald in Washington. Mr. Weil was named to his position after 17 years as a newspaper publisher. He joined McClatchy in 1994 as publisher of The Fresno Bee. From 1992 to 1994, he was president and chief operating officer for Persis Media, a privately held company with newspapers in Washington and Tennessee. Mr. Weil held other senior management positions with Persis and Gannett Co. from 1973 to 1992. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Press Institute and as a member of the Board for the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association (SNPA).
Robert J. Weil
Mark Zieman - Vice President, Operations
Mr. Zieman has been Vice President, Operations since May 2011 and oversees 16 daily newspapers and their affiliated operations in eight states, primarily in the Midwest, South and Southeast. The papers are The Miami Herald, the Spanish-language El Nuevo Herald and the Bradenton Herald in Florida; the Belleville News-Democrat in Illinois; The Wichita Eagle in Kansas; The Kansas City Star in Missouri; The (Macon) Telegraph and the (Columbus) Ledger-Enquirer in Georgia; the (Biloxi) Sun Herald in Mississippi; The Charlotte Observer and The (Raleigh) News & Observer in North Carolina; The Beaufort Gazette, The (Rock Hill) Herald, The (Hilton Head) Island Packet, The (Columbia) State and The (Myrtle Beach) Sun News in South Carolina. Prior to his corporate appointment, Mr. Zieman served as president and publisher of The Kansas City Star, where he was also editor, managing editor, projects editor and an investigative reporter. He started his journalism career in the Houston bureau of The Wall Street Journal in 1984. He is a trustee of the William Allen White Foundation at the University of Kansas.
