McClatchy Launches dealsaver Daily Deals Sites in All Its Markets
The McClatchy Company today announced that it has completed the rollout of dealsaver, its proprietary daily deals service, to all McClatchy markets, culminating a process that began with the May 18 introduction of www.dealsaver.com/fresno in Fresno, Calif.
"As expected, we've sold a large number of deal vouchers in our bigger markets," said Christian Hendricks, McClatchy's vice president for interactive media. "We've been pleased to see, however, that even our smaller markets have been able to generate strong volume."
Regardless of market size, advertisers are finding that dealsaver combined with the promotional power of the local McClatchy newspaper and related websites bring customers who are willing to buy more than the deal itself and who provide repeat business. This sets dealsaver apart from some of the other daily deals competitors.
"The dealsaver program helped me to reach a segment of the population I was unable to reach with Groupon or Living Social," said Rick Fansler, manager of Airways Municipal Golf Course in Fresno.
"We made very good money on the dealsaver offer," said Mark Lidell, owner of Zeke's Fish & Chips restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. "We saw lots of new customers that I expect will be back many times. The ad in the newspaper promoting the deal was very impressive. We look forward to scheduling another dealsaver offer in the near future."
Even as more McClatchy markets have come aboard, earlier dealsaver markets are expanding. In Miami, for instance, the local dealsaver program will soon be offering multiple deals each day, and McClatchy is planning an online mall in all of its markets to provide a variety of deeply discounted offerings in conjunction with the Find n Save online marketplace.
"We're excited about the early results we're seeing from dealsaver," said McClatchy's Hendricks. "And we're looking forward to expanding our presence in the daily deals market."
In each of its markets, dealsaver offers a daily deal in the form of a prepaid voucher that consumers can buy for 50 to 90 percent less than the value of the deal. The deals are made available to thousands of consumers who subscribe to their local dealsaver e-mail newsletter and the deals are promoted to additional consumers through their local McClatchy newspaper and online news sites. Also, dealsaver is part of the Find n Save network of deals and shopping sites (www.findnsave.com).
The dealsaver markets include Anchorage, Alaska; Beaufort, S.C.; Belleville, Ill.; Bellingham, Wash.; Biloxi, Miss; Boise, Idaho; Bradenton, Fla.; Charlotte, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; Columbus, Ga.; Fort Worth, Texas; Fresno, Calif.; Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Kansas City, Mo.; Lexington, Ky.; Macon, Ga.; Merced, Calif.; Miami, Fla.; Modesto, Calif.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Olympia, Wash.; Raleigh, N.C.; Rock Hill, S.C.; Sacramento, Calif.; San Luis Obispo, Calif.; State College, Pa.; Tacoma, Wash.; Tri-Cities, Wash; and Wichita, Kan.
Consumers wishing to subscribe to dealsaver or check for the latest deals can select their market at www.dealsaver.com. Businesses wishing to advertise with dealsaver may enter their contact information at www.dealsaver.com/advertise.html and will be contacted by a dealsaver representative.
