Employees Shine in Corporate Ad Campaign
Lexington’s Delano Massey. Olympia’s Tony Overman. Sacramento’s Chris Macias. Kansas City’s Jeneé Osterheldt. Miami’s Ana Menéndez. Macon’s Sherrie Marshall.

What do these employees have in common?

They were among the McClatchy journalists featured in company ads and promotions at a half-dozen journalism conferences and fairs this year where McClatchy was a major sponsor.

From the National Association of Hispanic Journalists convention in San Jose to the Asian American Journalists Association convention in Miami, McClatchy journalists appeared in newspaper ads, brochures, convention guides and banquet programs.

Each ad featured a single McClatchy journalist, his or her photo and a mini-profile with the headline “Great journalism. Great company.” Collectively, the ad campaign illustrated the diversity of McClatchy employees, the diversity of newspapers and the diversity of newsroom careers available at McClatchy.

Historically, McClatchy reserved such sponsorships for those conventions hosted in cities with McClatchy newspapers or otherwise organized by McClatchy employees.

But McClatchy was a major corporate sponsor at all the minority journalism conventions and career fairs this year, acknowledging its new leadership role as the third-largest newspaper company in the United States and providing additional support in a lean financial year when many other media companies had cut back.
