Family-Related, Change-of-Status Events
The following life events and changes qualify as change-of-status events and allow employees to update their benefits information outside of the open enrollment period:
- Birth of a child
- Death of a dependent
- Divorce, dissolution of a marriage or domestic partnership, and legal separation
- Employee or dependent gains other health care coverage
- Employee or dependent loses other health care coverage
- Employee gains an eligible dependent
- Employee loses an eligible dependent
- Marriage or qualified domestic partnership
- Court order requiring employee to provide medical coverage for a child
Employees must notify their local human resources department within 31 days of a change-of-status event in order to update their benefits status. For questions, please contact your local human resources department.
